Out of interest, what have the scantily clad cheerleaders in the above image actually got to do with the topic being discussed ?

BTW - I realise they are in the IPL - that is they use cheerleaders, but for all of their glossy and exuberant sexual attractiveness and prettiness it seems a little extraneous to the topic, still.

I knew this was coming...it was a publicity stunt to be honest...

But anyway I think this depicts the commercialization of IPL and the triumph of entertainment.

Talk of reverse colonialism! The Brits (specially those still admiring the colonial past of the country) must be frowning like there was no tomorrow. Money talks loud!

The danger of quality cricketers deserting their national sides applies equally to all the cricket playing countries.

ICC will have to come up with a solution pronto! A Twenty20 world cup every year in the offing?

yes it was the height of reverse colonialism! The ”neo colonialists” auctioned and bought cricketers like they used to buy slave centuries ago!

As far as the quality is concerned, i am actually happy. You would have never seen 158 runs or 6 wickets within 20 overs otherwise! Can’t watch those 5 day melodramas where they won’t hit even if they can!

That is another matter the ICC will have to worry about. If it too joins the Twenty20 bandwagon with gusto, one dayers and test matches will suffer.

The biggest threat is to the five day matches. Who has the time or the inclination to follow a game for 5 days? That too with the rains ever ready to wash out the contest.

I think the death of Test cricket should not be mournewd. It is a product of a bygone era. It has no place in today’s world.

If the cricket purists are so worried about losing cricket skills (which they feel only test cricket inculcates in a cricketer) ,keep 5 day matches as practice sessions in cricket academies. Son’t bore us with them!

Yes of course..Test matches are about to dye their natural death and nobody should crib about it. I think even ICC would stop crying foul once the expenses of test matches overtake the ticket sales.

But it’s good na?...heard those stories where young cricket maniacs watch test matches during exam time and ultimately fails the exam...:D

Yes, I agree with that. Twenty20 matches end in 3 hours. A test match takes five days. Now an over-enthusiastic kid will only lose three hours of his study time before exams.

With a test match he used to remain glued to the TV for five days and flunk his exams. On second thoughts, does any kid watch test matches nowadays?

hmm..they don’t watch because shorter versions have come up...and other options available...otherwise they would have watched!
