Finally we can hope for some pleasing changes. The entire stretch through which this train runs is eye- riveting. The train could do a world of good for Shimla’s global image especially with the Wild Flower Hall earning laurels as the most romantic place in the world.

That's indeed a heritage line. A few years back the New Jalpaiguri-Darjeeling railway track and the Queen of Hills toy train was added to the World Heritage site. Traveling by it is a fantastic experience. I would travel by the Kalka-Shimla railway when I go to meet the folks at Instablogs. :)

’Its better to be late than never’ is the saying that correctly applies to Kalka-Shimla Rail Line. The honour that it deserved much before has finally been given to it.
This rail link is one of the toughest engineering marvels to be built of its kind in India which connected one of the epic historical centre of the country - Shimla/Simla.
This status given to this rail link will not only boost Tourism around it but also help in better maintenance of the whole infrastructure and surrounding. But what needs to be taken care is the fact that on the name of development and maintenance the natural environment should not be harmed rather developed because the main beauty which all this is associated with is Natural serene evironment.

It's a very romantic trip from Kalka to Shimla by car. I am sure it would be just as much if not more by train. Trains in the hills are so romantic always. I hope to travel to Shimla by train some day.

@all
thanks for the comments....
in fact there are several sites in the country which never get the publicity and could never develop tourism in spite of having immense potential. Hope they will also receive the same attention.
